Kate employs her wit, charm, and cunning to thwart Homer Bedloe's plans to intercept the Hooterville Cannonball and reach Pixley, where he aims to shut down the beloved train for good. To buy time, she must keep him entertained at the Shady Rest and showcase the Cannonball's vital role in the community. When her efforts appear to falter, she enlists the help of Sam, the versatile handyman of Hooterville, to intimidate Bedloe and persuade him to reconsider his intentions.
