Emily Mapes, an old friend, decides it's high time for Kate to remarry. She encourages the girls to invite potential suitors to the Shady Rest by enticing them with discounted rates. However, Uncle Joe fears that Kate's new romance could jeopardize his job, so he impersonates the house detective and warns guest Grover Woodstock to steer clear of Kate. When Kate discovers her daughters' matchmaking scheme through Grover, she devises a clever plan involving the men to teach her girls a valuable lesson about meddling in her love life.
