S2E2 Race Against the Stork

Henry Barton is taking his expectant wife, Elsie, to the Shady Rest. Although their baby isn't due for another two weeks, Henry feels uneasy leaving Elsie alone for three days. While the women are calm, Uncle Joe is noticeably anxious. His worry escalates when Kate mentions that most babies arrive at night. In a frenzy, Joe devises a detailed plan with local men to ensure Doc Stuart can reach the Shady Rest if Elsie goes into labor after dark. Without anyone knowing, he tests his scheme at 3 AM, which angers everyone. To complicate matters, he attempts it again. When Elsie finally goes into labor, it becomes clear that someone else will need to assist with the delivery.
