Uncle Joe has been exchanging what look like romantic letters. Kate discovers that Joe is corresponding with Mary Alice Perkins, who once jilted him at the altar years ago for his best man, George Perkins. Joe reveals to Kate that George has passed away and confesses that he has never loved anyone but her, ultimately forgiving her for the past. Mary Alice plans to return to the Shady Rest for their wedding. However, Kate finds her pretentious and intrusive. When Mary Alice's lawyer, Boo Boo Webster, arrives to give her away, chaos ensues. Just before the ceremony, Dog delivers a note revealing that Mary Alice has eloped with Boo Boo, leaving everyone, including Joe, surprisingly relieved.
