A new supermarket called O'Donnel's has opened its doors in Pixley, leaving Sam without a single customer since launch. Even Uncle Joe decides to explore O'Donnel's, inadvertently irritating Mr. O'Donnel during his visit. Meanwhile, Kate and her friends remain devoted patrons of Sam's store. Overwhelmed by anxiety, Sam struggles to recognize Kate and Betty Joe. With encouragement from Kate and Doc Stuart, he reluctantly agrees to take a two-week break, and the girls step in to manage the store. They plan to reorganize the layout, but when Kate briefly leaves Joe in charge, he mistakenly places an enormous grocery order, threatening the store's finances and their peace of mind.
