S2E32 Why Girls Leave Home
Music Professor Lieberschmit suggests that aspiring singer Bobbie Jo spend three months in New York City for vocal lessons. With much effort, Kate secures a $300 loan from Mr. Gurney at the bank to fund Bobbie Jo's journey. Meanwhile, Billie Jo shares exciting news about a potential secretarial job at a Hollywood studio, which includes the chance for a screen test. Kate manages to get an additional $100 from Mr. Gurney. Just then, Betty Jo reveals she’s been awarded a Phys-Ed scholarship to a New Hampshire school. With only one opportunity available, the sisters must decide who will go. Ultimately, Billie Jo insists she’s in love and wants Bobbie Jo to take the chance. However, Bobbie Jo hesitates, citing expenses, and suggests Betty Jo should go. Betty Jo then learns it’s an all-girls school, which she’s not keen on attending.
