The storyline explores the reasons behind the repeal of Prohibition. The outlawing of alcohol boosts the income of organized crime, turning figures like Al Capone into household names. Influential socialite Pauline Sabin champions the movement to overturn the 18th Amendment, rallying women from diverse backgrounds to join her cause. Following Franklin D. Roosevelt’s election in 1932, the 21st Amendment is passed, effectively nullifying Prohibition. By late 1933, the public rejoices as they regain the right to purchase alcoholic beverages legally.
