While studying in Madrid and taking fencing lessons, Tessa Alvarado receives devastating news about her father's death and rushes back to her California estate. Once there, she uncovers the truth: her father was murdered, and the local tyrant, backed by wealthy landowners, has left the peons in dire poverty. In a haunting dream, her father's spirit appears, urging her to fight for justice and avenge him. With the help of her servant's tarot cards, Tessa realizes her destiny lies in her fencing skills, leading her to embrace her role as the vigilante known as "The Queen of Swords."
