A peasant girl is found lifeless, having been killed by her wealthy lover, Anton. The sole witness, Tessa, pledges to stand against him in court. However, Anton's mother, Mary Rose—a ranchero and ex-pirate portrayed by Bo Derek—will stop at nothing to keep her son from facing execution, even if it entails committing another murder. In this tense situation, it becomes clear that Tessa may need the Queen’s protection more than ever.
