Relic Hunter (1999)

Episode Overview

In Central America in 1488, Sydney and Nigel, accompanied by their guide Carlos, successfully infiltrate an Aztec pyramid and uncover a ruby-eyed statue. However, Carlos betrays them, binding them and fleeing with the statue. After managing to escape their restraints, they pursue him only to discover his lifeless body and the opened box nearby. They decide to take the box and attempt to flee by train, but soon learn that Carlos was in league with mercenaries who also covet the statue. A thief on the train tries to snatch the statue but meets a grim fate. Believing the statue is cursed, Sydney resolves to return it to the pyramid. With help from the NSA agent who provided the coordinates, she and Nigel make their way back. The mercenary leader tries to claim the cursed doll but is killed by the spectral figure of an Aztec priest. Sydney successfully locks the doll away in the pyramid once again.
