S1E12 Richard is dead, died alone in the woods that day.

Edward ascends to the throne, bringing joy to York, but Richard feels a deep sense of despair. "The light will never come back," he laments. Ignoring Edward's command to execute Henry, Richard visits the prison where Henry is held. "You always appeared just in time... mending my wounds, only to inflict new ones," Richard confesses, dagger in hand.
