After Richard has ensured Buckingham's downfall, Anne reveals that her tuberculosis has resurfaced. She pleads with Richard to disinherit their compassionate son Edward to shield him from harm. Struggling with the impending loss of those dear to him, Richard, yearning for the loyalty of Buckingham, attempts to turn to Catesby as a substitute. However, Catesby responds that "the heat of the body cannot warm the soul." Meanwhile, the looming conflict with Richmond draws nearer.
