In Part 3, George rises to prominence as a skilled gamecock trainer, earning the affectionate title of Chicken George. He weds Matilda, the daughter of a preacher, and they have numerous children together. Meanwhile, Tom Lea finds himself in a difficult position after losing a bet to an Englishman, prompting him to sell George in a desperate attempt to save his farm.
