Episode Overview

Shun comes to the realization that the miracle was brought about by the blood of the Gold Saints, but Io warns him that the pillar will never be taken down, not even by them. Determined, Shun chooses to give his life in an attempt to destroy the pillar. Meanwhile, Seiya and Hyoga search for the remaining pillars. Just in time, Kiki reaches Shun, and Libra's Twin Rod finds its way into his grasp. Shun successfully shatters the Mammoth Pillar, but in a desperate act, Io sacrifices himself to protect it, ultimately in vain. As Io breathes his last, he cautions Shun against feeling pity for the enemy, lest he too meet a tragic fate.
