Feeling increasingly worthless, Vic, who is unable to walk, contemplates suicide. Greg steps in, trying to persuade him of the significance of his role in teaching the children. When Anne Tranter arrives at the grange, she is taken aback to find Vic alive and realizes that Greg is aware of her cruel behavior from their initial encounter. Upon discovering that Anne is staying at the grange, Vic becomes fixated on seeking revenge...
