In a Toronto café, an African refugee spots the ruthless Congolese warlord responsible for her suffering and the enslavement of her son. As they fight to ensure he remains imprisoned, the ICS reveals a sinister plot connecting coltan trafficking in the Congo to a prominent Canadian corporation. Jack Hardacre, a tough politician, steps in as the new Minister of Public Safety and quickly develops a strong aversion to Kessler. Meanwhile, feeling rejected by Kessler, Charlotte seeks comfort in other relationships.
