Charlotte Nelson confides in Clay McCord about her worries for her younger brother, Trooper, who has become involved with the notorious gang led by the villainous Bull Ward. In response, McCord helps Trooper secure a legitimate job as a messenger for a mining company, responsible for transporting gold shipments. Ward, believing Trooper will hand over the gold to him, is pleased. However, Trooper stands his ground and, when confronted by Ward during a delivery, shoots him in self-defense. Proving himself, Trooper then brings his friend Tommy—another ex-member of Ward's gang—on board to help him with the messenger duties.
