Inspired by "Flashdance," Beverly chooses to pursue dance with the Frentas, only to face rejection when they don’t back her plans for an upcoming recital. At the same time, Emmy begins dating a popular guy, prompting Adam to worry that their friendship might be at risk. In an effort to appear cooler, he tries to change his approach, but his attempts ultimately go awry.
