Episode Overview

While at the fish market, Doug and Carrie unexpectedly bump into Father McAndrew. After a friendly chat, he invites them to visit the church, and unsure how to politely say no, the Heffernans agree to attend the upcoming Sunday service. During the service, Carrie recognizes her true need is for a salary increase. The next day, she’s thrilled to learn that her wish has come true. However, Doug is less enthusiastic when Carrie starts praying for trivial things, like shoe sales. He tries to argue that such prayers aren’t appropriate, but then gets caught praying for a Jets victory. Meanwhile, Arthur decides to hold an open house to sell their home, but he hasn’t mentioned anything about it to Doug and Carrie.
