Basilone and the 7th Marines land on Guadalcanal to bolster Leckie and the 1st Marine Division as they strive to secure the vital airstrip. During a fierce nighttime assault, Basilone proves instrumental in driving back the Japanese forces, but he endures a devastating personal tragedy.
