Mark's uncle, Johnny Gibb, a renowned rodeo star, pays a visit, much to Mark's excitement. However, Lucas uncovers that Johnny is evading the law after being implicated in an Express Office Robbery. Meanwhile, Stacy boasts about his challenging bronco, Lucifer, who no one has managed to ride for even 15 seconds. Alvah, eager to bring down Stacy's pride, persuades Johnny to ride Lucifer, prompting the townspeople to wager that he can last 30 seconds. Johnny agrees but secretly plans to throw the ride for $500. Yet, after bonding with Mark, he decides to give it his all before surrendering to Marshal Torrance.
