Belinda Tyler, the determined adopted daughter of Missy, dreams of becoming a doctor in a time when women's aspirations for careers, especially in medicine, are frowned upon. Undeterred, she showcases her skills by assisting the local physician and caring for a stroke victim, successfully helping the woman regain her strength. Meanwhile, Drew, the nephew of a recently deceased neighbor, arrives to prepare the family farm for sale before heading back to his father’s law firm in New York.
