In 1953, Katherine Watson, a fresh UCLA graduate, takes a teaching position at the esteemed all-girls Wellesley College. Armed with a progressive outlook, she seeks to challenge the conservative norms ingrained in both society and the college itself. Katherine encourages her conventional students, notably Betty and Joan, to question the predetermined paths laid out for them and to envision broader possibilities for their futures. Through her passion for art and advocacy for independence, she ignites a spirit of change among her students, pushing them to redefine their roles in a restrictive world.
