Fear (2000)
Fear, a groundbreaking paranormal reality series, aired on MTV from 2000 to 2002. Contestants, typically five or more, were dropped in supposedly haunted sites where they embarked on chilling dares over two nights to uncover supernatural activity. Created by Martin Kunert and Eric Manes, the pilot garnered rave reviews, prompting a full season order after its initial two episodes. Despite its popularity, the series faced cancellation after the second season due to high production costs, not low viewership. Innovations included self-filming by contestants and the use of night vision and body-mounted cameras. A DVD, MTV's Inside Fear, was released in 2001.
