Overview

Set against the backdrop of 1993 North Philadelphia, the story follows 12-year-old Kevin Hart, whose vivid imagination and relentless optimism often clash with the tough realities of his environment. His mother, Nancy, balances demanding night shifts as an E.R. nurse while fiercely striving to guide Kev on the right path. Complicating matters are his troublemaking older brother Robert, his chaotic father Henry's outrageous efforts to rekindle his romance with Nancy, and the dubious wisdom offered by his ex-con uncle Richard Jr. Each character adds to the comedic yet poignant journey of growing up.
