The Electric Company (1971)
The Electric Company, a groundbreaking children's series produced by the Children's Television Workshop for PBS, aired 780 episodes over six seasons from October 25, 1971, to April 15, 1977. Following its original run, the show enjoyed reruns until 1985, thanks in part to two additional seasons created for ongoing use. Filmed at Teletape Studios in Manhattan, the program utilized sketch comedy to engage young viewers while enhancing their reading and grammar skills. Targeted at children who had outgrown Sesame Street, its humor featured a more sophisticated edge, making learning both fun and memorable.
