Plot

When Inspector Clouseau goes missing, the Surete seeks assistance from the world's second-best detective. However, Clouseau's nemesis, Dreyfus, manipulates the selection process to appoint the inept NYPD Sgt. Clifton Sleigh instead. As Sleigh clumsily navigates through a web of assassins and corrupt officials, his blunders mirror those of Clouseau, making it seem as if the French detective has an unexpectedly hapless American counterpart. With chaos and comedy ensuing, Sleigh’s misguided efforts bring about a series of hilarious mishaps on his quest to locate the missing inspector.
